Upon his arrival, President Prabowo was warmly welcomed by the family members of the deceased before heading to the chamber where Kwik Kian Gie was laid to rest. With a sense of reverence, Prabowo paid his tributes to Kwik Kian Gie, who was widely recognized for advocating Pancasila-based economics during his lifetime. Kwik, a renowned economist and political figure, passed away at the age of 90 on July 28, 2025. Prabowo regarded Kwik not only as an economist but also as a mentor and friend who offered valuable insights on the country’s development path. Expressing his condolences, President Prabowo highlighted Kwik’s significant contributions to defending the Pancasila economy and upholding Article 33 of the Constitution. He reminisced on the close bond he shared with Kwik, emphasizing the guidance and advice he received from the late economist over the years. Despite his deteriorating health, Kwik remained actively involved and continued to share his thoughts and recommendations with the President until his final days. President Prabowo acknowledged Kwik’s unwavering commitment and described his passing as a loss to Indonesia. In a poignant tribute, he expressed gratitude for the wisdom and counsel Kwik offered, reflecting on the profound impact the late economist had on the nation.
