European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has announced a new visa policy that will make it easier for Indonesian citizens to enter the European Union. The policy allows Indonesians on their second visit to the EU to apply for a multi-entry Schengen visa. This announcement came during a press conference with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in Brussels. Von der Leyen highlighted that the visa policy aims to strengthen long-term ties between Indonesia and the EU, with a focus on education, investment, and social exchange. The President emphasized the importance of people-to-people connections in the EU-Indonesia partnership, stating that the policy will facilitate not just travel, but also investment and deeper connections. Prabowo welcomed the deepening of EU-Indonesia ties and expressed the hope for the finalization of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in Brussels. The new visa policy and enhanced economic partnership mark a new chapter in bilateral relations between Indonesia and the EU, emphasizing openness, cooperation, and mutual benefits for both sides.
