President Prabowo Subianto recently visited former President Joko Widodo at his residence in Solo to update him on his state visits to several countries, such as Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Belgium, and France. During the meeting, Prabowo shared the progress made, particularly in the breakthrough achieved with the European Union after 10 years of negotiations on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
The visit took place at 6:00 PM local time, with Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka accompanying Prabowo. Upon arrival, they were warmly welcomed by Jokowi and First Lady Iriana. The meeting was described as cordial and relaxed, discussing various current issues and highlights from Prabowo’s 15-day diplomatic tour.
Prabowo expressed gratitude for the positive outcomes of his international engagements, mentioning his stop in Belarus where potential trade opportunities were identified. He highlighted Indonesia’s strong international reputation and commitment to neutrality and peaceful collaboration on the global stage.
Indonesia’s position as a non-aligned country was emphasized, with Prabowo explaining the nation’s approach to not joining political blocs and its application to join the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). He emphasized Indonesia’s stance on respecting all countries, seeking friendships with all nations, and refraining from interfering in domestic affairs—an approach that has been well-received worldwide.
Accompanying Prabowo in the meeting with Jokowi were State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, Foreign Minister Sugiono, and Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Angga Raka Prabowo. This meeting marks a significant exchange of information and highlights the ongoing efforts to strengthen diplomatic relations and promote Indonesia’s international presence.
