Prabowo Finalizes CEPA EU: Indonesia’s Job Market Poised for Growth

Indonesia and the European Union have made significant progress towards finalizing the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). This milestone was announced after a high-level meeting between Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Brussels. President von der Leyen highlighted the vast economic opportunities that CEPA would unlock across various sectors, emphasizing the importance of environmentally and socially responsible economic partnerships.

The agreement aims to create new markets and opportunities in sectors like agriculture, automotive, and services, while also strengthening supply chains for critical raw materials necessary for energy and digital transitions. President Prabowo welcomed the agreement as a major step in Indonesia-EU economic relations, noting the alignment of economic interests and the complementary nature of both sides’ priorities.

Acknowledging Europe’s leadership in science, technology, and finance, President Prabowo emphasized Indonesia’s strategic natural resources and the potential for a partnership that could contribute to global economic stability. President von der Leyen expressed confidence in the economic benefits that this partnership would bring, highlighting the importance of long-term partnerships based on trust, respect, and shared values.

The formal signing of the CEPA implementation agreement is expected to take place in Brussels, signaling a new chapter in the Indonesia-EU strategic partnership focusing on job creation, investment, and shared economic growth.
