President Prabowo Subianto has set a bold goal to lead Indonesia’s state budget towards a zero-deficit position in the coming years. During his address on the 2026 State Budget Bill, he outlined his commitment to this agenda at the Parliament Complex in Senayan. The 2026 draft budget allocates Rp 3,786.5 trillion for state spending, with projected revenue of Rp 3,147.7 trillion. The fiscal deficit is targeted at Rp 638.8 trillion, equivalent to 2.48% of the gross domestic product (GDP), which will be financed through prudent and sustainable means.
Prabowo emphasized the need for efficiency measures to minimize the deficit and expressed his aspiration to achieve a deficit-free state budget in the near future. He called for courage and determination in eliminating budgetary leakages, urging the support of all political forces in Indonesia. The government will focus on creative and innovative financing to reduce reliance on the state budget for development funding.
To boost tax revenues and support economic activities, fiscal incentives will be carefully calibrated. The management of natural resources will be strengthened to ensure maximum benefit for the people’s prosperity. President Prabowo highlighted the importance of efficient and productive management of state assets to generate added value and enhance the welfare of the people.
