Franciscus Sakfiris Pahabolisage and Stincek Laramiapa, two high school students from Papua, expressed their pride and excitement for being chosen as members of the Pasukan Pengibar Bendera Pusaka (Paskibraka) in Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day celebrations. They had the honor to participate in the event at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta alongside President Prabowo Subianto.
Both students, representing different provinces of Papua, shared their gratitude and happiness for the opportunity to be part of such a prestigious event. Franciscus from SMA Negeri 1 Wamena mentioned the challenging selection process he went through, especially the physical training part, which was something new for him.
Stincek from SMA Negeri 1 Nabire expressed her commitment to perform her best during the flag-raising ceremony in front of the President and the nation. She highlighted the importance of teamwork and unity among the Paskibraka members from all 38 provinces during their training.
Despite feeling nervous about the upcoming performance on August 17, Stincek emphasized that the excitement and joy of the moment outweighed her nerves. Both students are determined to make their country proud and cherish the opportunity to meet the President in person. Their journey to becoming Paskibraka members has not only been a challenge but also a rewarding experience of unity, camaraderie, and personal growth.
