The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is proactively promoting local employment by recruiting workers for the Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) from individuals in extreme and general poverty. Redy Hendra Gunawan, Special Staff to BGN, disclosed that a minimum of 30% of the personnel in each SPPG will be chosen from underprivileged households, in line with the President’s directive to ensure the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program contributes to job creation. Presently, there are 2,378 SPPG units established in collaboration with 6,076 local economic institutions, with 93,572 community members volunteering in the initiative. The MBG Program has benefited over 7.4 million individuals nationwide, including students from various educational levels, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, toddlers, and more. To further extend the program’s coverage, BGN plans to launch an additional 2,401 SPPG units in the next 10 days, with the goal of serving approximately 15 million beneficiaries. This move represents a major step towards supporting job creation and addressing nutritional needs in disadvantaged communities.
