President Prabowo Subianto is dedicated to empowering the impoverished population through a range of flagship programs aimed at not only addressing immediate needs but also at creating opportunities for future generations to lift themselves out of poverty. Programs like Sekolah Rakyat (People’s School), Kopdes Merah Putih (Village Cooperatives), and MBG (Free Nutritious Meals) are key elements in this mission, as emphasized by Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo Priyono during a Berani Bicara (“Dare to Speak”) discussion. The Sekolah Rakyat program, in particular, aims to disrupt the cycle of poverty from one generation to the next by emphasizing the importance of education in breaking the cycle. President Prabowo’s administration has made eradicating poverty a top priority, with ambitious targets to eliminate extreme poverty by 2026 and reduce the overall national poverty rate to below 5 percent by 2029. Through a combination of social intervention and community empowerment programs, the government is working towards achieving these goals and ensuring that the benefits reach the impoverished population in a timely manner. These efforts are part of the administration’s three-pronged strategy to combat poverty, which includes initiatives like the People’s School, Red-and-White Village Cooperatives, and Free Health Checks in Schools. The administration’s commitment to reaching as many Indonesians as possible is evident in programs like Cek Kesehatan Gratis (CKG), which aims to provide free health checks to millions of students. The Red-and-White Village Cooperatives, on the other hand, are designed to stimulate local economies and promote self-sufficiency by creating new jobs and empowering communities. With the upcoming launch of the Kopdes Merah Putih program, President Prabowo aims to establish 80,000 cooperatives nationwide, further promoting village empowerment and self-reliance. These initiatives underscore the administration’s dedication to uplifting the poor and breaking the cycle of poverty in Indonesia.
