President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, made his first appearance at the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil as the leader of a newly admitted full member. During the summit, Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, highlighted the importance of strengthening international economic cooperation. The Leaders’ Declaration, a key outcome of the summit, emphasized the need for multilateralism and global governance reform. Of particular significance to Indonesia was the focus on promoting peace, security, international stability, and enhancing economic, trade, and financial cooperation. This is crucial for Indonesia as it aims to expand market access for its products within the BRICS framework. In addition to the founding members of BRICS, the summit was also attended by newly admitted countries such as Indonesia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates.
